The Office of the Comptroller (OC) of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of Justice Programs (OJP), in cooperation with the COPS Office and the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA), will sponsor a series of three financial management training seminars across the country from June through August 2000.
All seminars are two-days in length, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. each day.
See Accommodations for dates, hotel information, cutoff dates, and seminar sites.
These Regional Financial Management Training Seminars are designed specifically for persons responsible for the financial administration of grants awarded from Federal grant-in-aid programs administered by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). Attendance at this seminar satisfies the grant management training requirement of the 1999 Tribal Resources Grant Program (TRGP).
These seminars will cover COPS programs, specifically COPS Hiring and COPS Tribal Resources Grant Program. Knowledgeable and experienced OC and COPS officials will introduce seminar topics, serve as primary seminar presenters, and facilitate seminar discussion. Topics to be covered during the financial management training seminars include the application review process, grantee financial reporting requirements, methods of payments, matching requirements, closeout procedures, monitoring responsibilities, procurement, lobbying, compliance with drug-free workplace requirements, supplanting, and audits.
Funding for the Regional Financial Management Training Seminars is covered under the TRGP grant. Seminar attendees will be reimbursed through their grants for costs associated with their participation in the seminar, including transportation, lodging, and meals. There is no seminar registration fee.
The seminar format will be informal and participants are invited to dress casually.
A block of rooms has been reserved at each of the seminar hotel sites indicated below. Please note that hotel accommodations for some of these seminars have not been finalized. However, you may register for one of those seminars if you wish, and when the hotel has been confirmed a written confirmation will be sent to you. You also can check the NCJA Web Page at http://www.sso.org/ncja or the Office of the Comptroller Web Page at http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/oc which will be updated with the hotel sites once they are confirmed.
